Vertical guarantee & refunds
The cost of your trip includes a certain amount of skiing and riding, measured in vertical metres/feet, which we track each day. Let’s look at how you reach that amount—and what happens if weather or exceptional circumstances get in the way.
Guaranteed amounts
The Vertical Guarantee is the predetermined minimum amount of vertical per trip we guarantee you’ll have the opportunity to heli-ski. It varies based on trip date, type, and length.
Unlimited vertical at no additional charge. If you ski or ride more than the Vertical Guarantee for your trip, there’s no extra charge. That’s right; all additional runs are free.

Refunds
If you do not reach your Vertical Guarantee due to operational factors such as an inability to fly due to poor weather or mechanical breakdown, a refund will be given. The refund is calculated based on the difference between the Vertical Guarantee, and the metres that you had the opportunity to ski during your trip.
CMH will not issue refunds if you do not reach your Vertical Guarantee due to injury, illness, accidents, ski ability, fitness or personal choice (meaning you do not reach the Vertical Guarantee because you choose to stay at or return to the Lodge and not ski).
If you are eligible for a metre refund, our Banff office will process it within 2 weeks of your trip end date. You can choose to apply the refund toward a future CMH trip (summer or winter) or receive it as a credit card refund or cheque.
- Processed within 2 weeks of your trip end date
- Can be applied to a future CMH trip or issued via credit card/cheque
- 30–60% of Vertical Guarantee skied: Standard refund amount PLUS 15% of your base trip value
- Less than 30% of Vertical Guarantee skied: Standard refund amount PLUS 25% of your base trip value
- Non-refundable and will remain on account until applied to a new booking
- Processed by our Banff office within 2 weeks of your trip end date
- Valid for 2 years toward a new summer or winter booking
- Cannot be applied to an existing trip or incidentals
- Forfeited if not used within 2 years
Refunds - Valemount*
If you do not reach your package hours due to operational factors such as poor weather conditions or mechanical issues, you will receive a refund. Refunds are calculated based on the actual hours flown relative to the total hours included in your package.
